I’m Megan. I’m a chef. I eat plants.
Cooking is something I’ve always done. When I was too small to help out, I watched my mom, grandma, and even my favorite babysitter in the kitchen while they cooked. As a suburban latchkey kid, I watched PBS and The Food Network instead of cartoons, and regularly relieved my mom of making dinner while recreating dishes I saw on cooking shows.
In college, I cooked for my roommates and friends. Later, in culinary school I learned classic culinary technique which I utilized while working in restaurants to become a line cook, then sous chef and pastry chef, and eventually executive chef. When I adopted a whole food plant based diet I learned to cook all over again.
Through this blog, I’m excited to share the part of me that is both vegan and chef. I cook with the seasons, letting locally grown produce and cuisines from around the world inspire my menu. I love veganizing recipes to recreate flavor profiles. I cook healthy food that is so delicious it’s easy to forget it’s good for you.
My intention with my blog is to provide culinary assistance to those adopting a vegan lifestyle. It can be overwhelming to “give up” all the foods we love, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There is a way to create the flavors we desire with plant based foods. Let me show you how.
